(1) The city mayor shall be assisted by elected deputy mayors.
(2) The number of deputy mayors shall be fixed as follows:
- city council comprising 2 (two) to 3 (three) sub-divisional councils: 2 (two) deputy mayors;
- city council comprising 4 (four) to 5 (five) sub-divisional councils: 3 (three) deputy mayors;
- city council comprising 6 (six) to 7 (seven) sub-divisional councils: 4 (four) deputy mayors;
- city council comprising more than 7 (seven) sub-divisional councils: 5 (five) deputy mayors.
(3) The distribution of the positions of deputy mayors of the city council must, as much as possible, reflect the configuration of the city council board. In any case,
the city mayor and deputy mayors may neither combine their duties with those of
sub-divisional mayor or deputy mayor, nor originate from the same sub-divisional
council board.
(4) The city council board session devoted to the designation of the city
council mayor and deputy mayors shall be convened by the representative of the
State on the fourth Tuesday following the proclamation of the sub-divisional council
election results. It shall be devoted to setting up of committees to study matters that
fall within its remit.
