SECTION 246

(1) The city mayor, municipal councilor of a sub-divisional council of the said city council shall be a native of the region of attachment of the city council. (2) The city mayor and his deputies shall be elected by a college composed of all the municipal councillors of the sub-divisional councils in the city. The election shall be conducted on the third Tuesday following the date of proclamation of the Sub-divisional results, at the request of the representative of the state, following the conditions laid down in section 200 of this law. (3) He shall perform all the municipal duties within the context of the powers devolved to the city council.
