SECTION 299

(1) A witness may be summoned in writing even by a judicial police officer or is agent. He shall be bound to appear in court. (2) Where the witness fails to appear, he shall be served by the bailiff at the instance of the Legal Department. Where he still fails to appear, the court shall, on the application of the Legal Department, either issue a bench warrant against him, or dispense with his presence.
