(1) The Senate shall represent the regional and local
authorities.
(2) Each region shall be represented in the Senate by 10 (ten) Senators
of whom 7 (seven) shall be elected by indirect universal suffrage on a
regional basis and 3 (three) appointed by the President of the Republic.
(3) Candidates for the post of Senator and personalities appointed to
the post of Senator by the President of the Republic must have
attained the age of 40 (forty) by the date of the election or
appointment.
(4) Senators shall serve a term of 5 (five) years.
