Law No. 2005-14 of 29 December 2005 to amend and supplement some provisions of law No. 99-1 of 7 April 1999 relating to the practice and organization of the profession of Optician

SECTION 1

The provisions of section 2 of law No. 99-1 of April 1999 relating to the practice and organization of the profession of Optician are hereby amended and supplemented as follows: “Section 2.- (new) (1) Pursuant to this law, an optician shall be any person who holds either the diploma of optician or optometrist of any qualification recognised by the competent authorities of the country where it was obtained, subject to the establishment of equivalence in Cameroon. (2) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 1 above, all persons who at the date of enactment of this law, shall show proof of practice of the profession of Optician may continue to practice the profession without the required qualifications subject to justifications produced and authenticated by the National Association or the Ministry in charge of Public Health. These persons shall have to be on the roll of the National Association, recruit a qualified optometrist or optician of Cameroonian nationality in their Office. They shall not vie for the Presidency of the Council of the Association which is the Executive Organ, and shall not constitute the majority therein. (3) Failure to comply with the provisions of paragraph 2 above shall lead to the suspension or withdrawal of their authorization".
