SECTION 197

Where relationship between the principal and the commercial agent comes to an end, the commercial agent shall be entitled to compensatory damages, without prejudice to the possible award of other damages. The commercial agent shall lose the right to compensation if he fails to notify the principal, by an extra judicial act within a period of one year from the date of termination of the contract that he intends to claim his rights. The beneficiaries of the commercial agent shall also be entitled to compensatory damages where the termination of the contract is due to the death of the agent.
