SECTION 59 — Duties of Probation Officer

(1) The probation officer shall be bound to satisfy himself that the offender observes the general and special obligations of his probation, and in addition to stimulate and encourage the offender's efforts in the direction of reform, in particular his family and occupational readaptation. (2) He shall be bound to afford the offender all moral support in his power, and it shall be his duty, where the offender is in need of financial support, to apply to the Magistrate in charge to approach any social assistance organization with a view to a grant. (3) He shall report regularly to the said Magistrate on the progress of his task, and shall refer to him in case of difficulty.
