(1) In a sentence of loss of liberty expressed in days, each day shall
mean 24 (twenty-four) hours.
(2) Sentence of one month shall mean 30 (thirty) days.
(3) Sentence expressed in months or years shall be reckoned by
calendar date
(4) Subject to Section 53, the duration of the sentence shall include and
run from:
a) the day on which the offender was taken into custody under that
sentence ;
b) in a case of concurrent sentences passed on different dates, the
day on which he was first taken into custody under any such
sentence.
(5) In case of escape, the period of unlawful liberty shall not be counted
in the duration of the sentence.
