SECTION 289

Section 123-1 of the Penal Code shall apply to any person who: - through menacing gatherings, clamours or demonstrations, disrupts election operations or infringes the exercise of the right or freedom to vote; - on polling day, is found guilty of insult or violence against the local polling commission or any of its members, or through assaults or threats, delays or obstructs election operations ; - through gifts, generosity, favours, promise of public or private employment or any other specific benefits offered with the purpose of influencing the vote of one or several electors, obtains their vote, either directly or through a third party ; - directly or through a third party, accepts or requests from candidates the above-mentioned gifts, generosity, favours or benefits; - through assault, violence or threats against an elector, either by making him fear to lose his job or expose himself, his family or fortune to danger, influences his vote.
