(1) Rehabilitation may only be applied for after five (5) years in the case of a conviction for
felony and after three (3) years in the case of a conviction for misdemeanour. These time-
limits shall run from the date following the day of his release in the case of a sentence to loss of liberty, or payment in the case of a fine.
(2) The time-limit prescribed in this section shall be doubled in the case of persons with a previous conviction.
