Health and population - civil status registration; - setting up, equipping and managing and maintaining council health centres, in keeping with the health map; - recruiting and managing nursing staff and paramedics of integrated health centres and sub-divisional health centres; - providing assistance to health facilities and social welfare centres; - insuring sanitary inspections in establishments that manufacture, package, store and distribute food products, as well as in plants that treat solid and liquid waste produced by individuals or companies. b. Social welfare - participating in the upkeep and management, where necessary, of social advancement and reintegration centres; - creating, maintaining and managing public cemeteries; - organizing and coordinating relief operations for the needy.
