SECTION 221

Where the debt is admitted, the judgment given on the merits shall maintain the totality or part of the mortgage which is already registered or shall grant a final mortgage. Within the period of six months following the final judgment, the ensuing mortgage shall be registered in conformity with the publicity formalities prescribed by the laws governing land tenure. The portion that has been maintained shall acquire a rank from the date of its provisional registration; the mortgage shall acquire a rank from the date of final registration. Where the final registration is not done within the period referred to above, or where the debt is not acknowledged in a final court decision, the initial registration shall be void ab initio and its cancellation may be demanded by any one of the interested parties before the court which authorized the said registration at the expense of the person who did it.
