SECTION 3

(1) The term of office of Members of the National Assembly shall be 5 (five) years. It shall commence on the opening day of the statutory ordinary session following the parliamentary elections. (2) At the beginning of the legislative period, the National Assembly shall meet in a statutory ordinary session on the second Tuesday following the proclamation of the parliamentary election results by the Constitutional Council. (3) Each year, the National Assembly shall hold 3 (three) ordinary sessions, each lasting not more than 30 (thirty) days. (4) The legislative year of the National Assembly shall be aligned to the calendar year. (5) The first ordinary session of the National Assembly shall open in March, the second in June and the third in November. (6) The opening date of each session shall be fixed by Order of the Bureau of the National Assembly, after concerting with the Bureau of the Senate and consultation with the President of the Republic. (7) The National Assembly shall meet in extraordinary session for a period of not more than 15 (fifteen) days on a fixed agenda at the request of the President of the Republic or of one-third of its members. (8) The extraordinary session shall adjourn once the agenda is exhausted. 2
