SECTION 86

(1) Judicial police officers shall be empowered to check the identity and situation of any suspected person, in accordance with the provisions of section 32, and where necessary, may detain him in a special police custody for not longer than 24 hours. (2) Upon the expiry of this period, the person so detained shall be released, unless the detention is justified on some other legal ground otherwise the judicial police officer may be prosecuted under the provisions of section 291 of the Penal Code.
